Chelene Skopelitis has been appointed the new PR Manager & Marketing Co-ordinator for the Montecasino Hotels, working with the Palazzo, Southern Sun Montecasino, and SunSquare Montecasino. She was formerly PR Manager for the Palazzo for three and a half years.
Skopelitis joined Tsogo Sun in 2007 in Gaming and moved across to Hotels a year later, working as Executive PA to the MD of Southern Sun Hotels. “It was here that I developed a passion for the hotel industry,” she says. After five years she joined the Group CEO assisting mostly in the hotels division. The public relations bug began biting, and Skopelitis joined Palazzo as PR Manager in September 2014, where she has been responsible for several fresh new events being hosted by the hotel, including wine pairing, themed high tea, and Ladies Lunches. It was while at Palazzo that Skopelitis studied PR through UNISA, and her understanding of hotel operations was further enhanced.
As PR Manager and Marketing Co-ordinator for all three Montecasino hotels, Skopelitis says she will draw heavily on her past experience and the skills and knowledge she has gained. “I will have greater opportunity for diversity with the different brands, working closely with Tsogo Sun’s marketing department, the three hotel GMs and the Montecasino complex marketing team to ensure the best positioning and growth of these world-class hotels.”
